What are upholstery skins ?

The interior components of your Correct Craft boat are generally made up of 3 parts.  The foundation, the foam and the skin.  The foundation is usually made of wood or expanded pvc board.  This is what the foam sits on and what the skins are stapled to.  The foam is specifically designed for marine use and is made for a specific seat or back rest.  The skin is put over the foam and staples to the foundation.  The skins are the only part you actually see when installation is complete.

What comes in an upholstery skin set ?

• The skin(s) for the item(s) you order for your year and model Correct Craft 

• Welt (where applicable)-  This is used along the top of coaming pads and some stern seat back rest where they meet the surface of the boat for a finished look.

• Underliner (where applicable)-  This is used to cover the bottom of some seats and the back of some back rest.
• Hidem (where applicable)-  This is used mainly on older boats along the edges of seat bottoms and back rest to hide the staples.

What about removing the old skins and installing the new skins ?

We recommend you have an experienced marine upholsterer install the new skins.  Having said that, we realize some of you may want to do it yourself.  We will help you as much as is possible thru e mails and our toll free phone line.
